What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed web standard (llmstxt.org): a plain-markdown file at the root of your site that tells AI systems — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and others — what your site is about and which pages matter. Think of it as a robots.txt for meaning instead of permissions: one H1 with your name, a one-line summary, and link sections pointing to your key pages.
Where do I put the file?
Upload it to the root of your domain so it is reachable at yourdomain.com/llms.txt — the same place robots.txt lives. On most platforms that means dropping it in your public or static folder and deploying.
Does llms.txt help my SEO?
It does not replace your sitemap or robots.txt, and Google has not made it a ranking factor. What it does is make your site easier for AI answer engines to understand and cite accurately — which matters as more buying research happens inside chat assistants. It costs one small text file, so the upside is free.
What should I include?
Your name, a one-sentence description an assistant could repeat verbatim, and your most important pages with a short honest line each: services or products, pricing, docs, best content, and contact. Leave out thin pages, legal boilerplate and anything you would not want quoted.
Is my data sent anywhere?
